A Bengaluru-based retired employees’ association is in the dock for allegedly misusing the photograph and name of senior IAS officer Anil Mukim, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Government of India, without his consent .
The organisers, who were summoned by the High Grounds police, admitted to using his photo in a promotional pamphlet, but said that it was not intentional. In their statement to the police, they said that an association member had downloaded Mr. Mukim’s photo and included his name in the pamphlet distributed to participants.
According to the police, the association comprises retired senior citizens, many of who had worked in various government departments. They recently held a recruitment drive in collaboration with a private insurance company at a hotel in Chalukya Circle for retired people who are keen on working as insurance agents.

The association had distributed pamphlets for the programme which had Mr. Mukim as one of the patrons of the event. One of the participants recognised the IAS officer and alerted authorities who checked with Mr. Mukim.
Mr. Mukim communicated with Additional Chief Secretary Rajneesh Goel, who filed a complaint with the High Grounds police. Based on his complaint, the police have registered a case of cheating.
