Accident occurred near a pond near Devanahalli

A 17-year-old was killed when he and his friends were attempting to take photos near a pond near Devanahalli on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday afternoon.

Varshan, a first-year pre-university student and resident of Kamalanagar in the city, had gone to Nandi Hills with six of his friends on three motorcycles for an excursion. Around 3 p.m., the group made their way back to the city, but stopped by a small pond near Maleganahalli, which is on the Bengaluru-Hyderabad National Highway.

According to the statements of his friends, they attempted to take pictures while standing close to the pond as well as take a dip to beat the heat. While taking pictures on the steep banks of the artificially-created pond, Varshan slipped and fell into the water.
