A 50-year-old woman, Kavita, who was alone at home was attacked by an unidentified couple, who entered her house and tied her up before making away with jewellery and other valuables on Tuesday afternoon.
The couple was able to gain entry into the house after the female culprit came knocking and identified herself as domestic help in need of a job. The victim’s sons were at work at the time of the attack.
The incident occurred in Shakti Ganapathi Nagar, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Basaveshwaranagar police. According to the police, when Kavita opened the door, the woman requested a job as a maid claiming that she was poor and couldn’t afford to look after her children. When Kavita replied saying that she was not in need of her service, the woman asked for food. Kavita let her into the house, closed the door and asked her to sit while she went to get some food from the kitchen.

When Kavita went into the kitchen, the woman opened the door to let the man in. “He tied up Kavita and the couple fled with gold and silver ornaments,” the officer said.
The Basaveshwaranagar police, who have registered a case, suspect the thieves may have done a recce before executing the crime.
