Heavy rain slows down traffic to a crawl

The city received heavy rain for a couple of hours on Saturday evening, leading to traffic slowing to a crawl in several parts of the city.

Heavy rain was reported in Yelahanka, Byatarayanapura and Hebbal. There were reports of hailstones in some areas. Roads were flooded in Indiranagar and Rajajinagar.

Power outages were reported in Halasooru, Indiranagar, Kaggasadapura, Hebbal, Kodigahalli, Jakkur and Banaswadi due to disruption in supply from the Master Unit Sub-Station.

Mayor G. Padmavathi inspected rain affected parts of Rajajinagar on Saturday night.

The Bescom control room received 2,329 complaints between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Being a weekend, many Bengalureans who had stepped out of their homes struggled to catch a cab home. However, some drivers went beyond the call of duty. Nagendra, who was taking a passenger to the airport from M.G. Road, took a detour to Indiranagar to pick up the woman's sister who had to catch the same flight.
