HC notice to BBMP on waste processing unit

The High Court on Thursday ordered issue of notice to the State government, BBMP and others on a PIL petition questioning setting up of a waste processing unit at Lingadheeranahalli in Banashankari 6{+t}{+h}Stage.

A vacation Division Bench comprising Justice A.N. Venugopala Gowda and Justice B. Veerappa passed the order on the petition filed by R Srinivas Kumar, a site owner in Banashankari 6{+t}{+h}Stage.

The unit is being set up on a civic amenity site (No-5) in Banashankari 5{+t}{+h}Block, 6{+t}{+h}Stage in a residential area comprising around 20,000 sites.

The petitioner expressed apprehension that the unit could lead to a Mandur-like situation.
