HC asks BWSSB head to prevent wastage of water during IPL matches

The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday directed the Chairman of Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board to hold a meeting of all those concerned and issue necessary direction to ensure that water is not wasted on account of cricket matches.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Subhro Kamal Mukherjee and Justice Ravi Malimath passed the order while disposing of a PIL petition that had sought direction for auditing of water used at Chinnaswamy Stadium in the city during IPL-2016 matches and prevent wastage of water.

The petitioner had contended that there is a shortage of water for drinking purpose in the city and there was need to prevent injudicious use of water.
