Gang held for robbery

The Jalahalli police have arrested a gang of four persons who posing as transgenders attacked a 45-year-old accountant and robbed him of Rs. 54,000 and gold valuables on March 6.

The accused have been identified as Dinesh alias Sweety (22), Byregowda alias Girija, (45), Madhu alias Prakurthi (20) and Ravi alias Shivani (29), residents of Dasarahalli and Rajagopal Nagar.

According to the police the accused intercepted B.K. Narayana, a resident of Balaji Layout, while he was returning home with the cash, took him to an isolated place near MES railway gate, attacked him and robbed his valuables before fleeing the spot.

Based on the complaint, the Jalahalli police tracked down the four and arrested them. The police have also recovered Rs. 1,12,500, 45 grams of gold valuables including seven gold rings and two gold chains from them.

The police are investigating to ascertain if the gang was involved in any other cases.
