Even as the city was limping back to normality following the recent violence that broke out in communally-sensitive areas, there was fresh tension on Tuesday after stones were thrown at houses at Ambedkar Nagar in Angol area of Belgaum.
The police brought the situation under control and additional forces have been deployed in the locality as a precautionary measure.
According to residents, power supply at Konawal Galli in Ambedkar Nagar was cut on Monday night and miscreants threw stones at five houses, which led to tension in the area.

A few of the miscreants allegedly tried to barge into the houses.
The window panes of the houses were broken, two-wheelers parked outside the houses were damaged and a few persons, including an elderly person, suffered minor injuries.
IGP North Range and in-charge Commissioner Bhaskar Rao, who visited the locality on Tuesday, said the situation was under control now.

After interacting with residents of the locality, Mr. Rao told presspersons one person had been arrested.
While interacting with the residents, Mr. Rao took senior police officials to task for failing to investigate properly. Meanwhile, Suresh Angadi, MP, and Abhay Patil, former MLA, led a protest by residents of Ambedkar Nagar, mainly women, seeking the immediate arrest of those responsible for the attack.
Mr. Angadi alleged that as the police had failed to act against those who created problems during the Ganesh idol immersion, the miscreants were at it again. Mr. Patil concurred and said that had the police officer concerned acted against those involved in the earlier violence, such attacks would not be recurring.
They withdrew the protest after Mr. Rao assured them of not sparing anyone involved.
