Four-day AYUSH expo from Jan 21

Do not be surprised the next time when a health worker knocks on your door to explain and promote home remedies.

The State Health Department and Union AYUSH Department - that have jointly organised a four-day AYUSH expo in the city from January 21 - will train Accredited Health Social Activists (ASHA) and other health workers to promote home remedies.

Health Minister U.T. Khader told presspersons on Tuesday that the trained ASHA workers will go door-to-door to popularise home remedies. “The training will be provided during the expo and an exclusive session has been set aside for this. We want people to extensively use home remedies and also give first preference to AYUSH,” he said.

The expo will also have a farmers’ meet wherein over 1,000 participating farmers from across the State will be encouraged to take up cultivation of medicinal plants. “Especially tobacco growers will be inspired to cultivate bio-medicinal plants as an alternative to tobacco. The second day of the expo has been dedicated for this,” he said.

People who visit the expo – that is being held at the RBANMS grounds in Ulsoor – will be offered free consultation with AYUSH experts and also provided medicines free of cost, the Minister said.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Union AYUSH Minister Shripad Yesso Naik apart from Mr Khader will attend the expo.
