Four black kites fly again

The birds were rescued and rehabilitated by an NGO

On World Environment Day, four black kites, which were rescued and rehabilitated by the NGO People for Animals, were released into the wild on Monday. A group of 32 children, some of them visually-challenged, from the Nidhi Charitable and Educational Trust released the birds at PFA’s centre in Kengeri. The children were taken around the wildlife hospital to understand the rescue and rehabilitation work done by veterinarians, and later helped to plant saplings around the shelter. “It was a blessing to witness the joy on the face of a visually-challenged child have his hands on a bird that he set back free into the wild,” said Kiran Sikander Rudra, General Manager at PFA. The NGO conducts similar awareness events for children throughout the year.
