Four arrested, mobile phones recovered

The Whitefield police have arrested five persons and recovered mobile phones and cars together worth Rs. 11 lakh from them. The arrested are Y.K. Murali (34), Shiva (28), Sagar (25), Mahesh (20) and Ganesh Babu (35). The police said they used to rob people of their mobile phones in buses or near the Whitefield iGate bus-stand. The police also seized Rs. 50,000 in cash from them.

Pirated CDs seized

Two persons who were allegedly selling pirated CDs and DVDs of various films, including the recently released Aamir Khan starrer, were arrested by the Central Crime Branch sleuths. The sleuths raided two shops on Tannery Road , arrested the shopkeepers Shahid (21) and Fairoz (27) and seized 5,000 CDs and DVDs of Hindi, Telugu and Tamil films and music worth Rs. 4 lakh.

Commits suicide

A 24-year-old man, who allegedly tried to kill his woman colleague, was found hanging in a shed at a construction site in Hulimavu on Sunday.

The police said Deviprasad, a garment factory employee, was reportedly in love with his colleague Pooja. On Saturday, Pooja rejected his marriage proposal. Upset by this, Deviprasad went to her PG accommodation and tried to convince her. When she did not agree, he allegedly tired to attack her with a knife. Pooja, who escaped with a minor cut on her neck, informed the security guard. On Sunday, Deviprasad was found hanging in the shed, police said.
