Four arrested for selling banned drugs

Officials of narcotics wing of Central Crime Branch (CCB) have arrested four persons including a Tamil Nadu-based woman on charges of selling banned drugs to college students and IT professionals in the city. Based on a tip-off, a team raided a public place in K.R. Puram and caught the accused red-handed and recovered 92 grams of amphetamine and 101 grams of morphione worth ₹ 26 lakh from them.

The arrested are Peter Chidiebere (34), Franklin Kelechi (33), Saviou Chikwado (26), all three from Nigeria and residents of T.C. Palya, and Suzanne P. (48), a native of Chennai.

According to the police, Suzanne and Franklin were in a live-in relationship. Peter and Saviou, who came to India on business visa two years ago, started selling drugs with the help of Suzanne and Franklin.

The police said: “Suzanne is a professional fashion designer, who would bring in the clients to sell the drugs to. The accused are also suspected to be involved in cyber crime. We have recovered many banks and shopping cards issued in different names.”

The visas of Peter and Saviou have expired and they are overstaying in the country, the police said, adding that they have written a letter to FRRO to deport them.

The accused have been taken into custody and investigations are on to ascertain the source of drugs and their network.
