Schools in Bangalore and Mysore are trying out ways to reduce the weight of the school bags.

Several Bangalore-based schools are encouraging students to use technology that allows online assignments and presentations. Nooraine Fazal, chief executive officer and co-founder of Inventure Academy, said a part of teaching and assignments is done online, which reduces paper work. The school has lockers for students to keep their books.

Principal of Lions West Sevaniketan School in Mysore said he was trying various solutions, including use of 100-page books instead of 200 pages.
