Five held on charge of youth’s murder

The Hulimavu police arrested five persons who had allegedly stabbed a 20-year-old youth to death a few days ago.

The arrested have been identified as Velu (20), his brother Kannan (19), Santhosh (19), Vinod (19) and Manjunath (22) while two others Balaji and Shivu are absconding.

The victim, Rajesh, had been playing cricket with his friends in Basavanapura playground at the same time as the arrested persons. The suspects had allegedly mocked at Rajesh’s game due to which a quarrel erupted between the two groups. The fight turned violent when one of the suspects allegedly stabbed Rajesh with a knife. Rajesh’s friends assaulted the suspects with stumps and cricket bats.

However, the suspects fled soon after Rajesh was stabbed. Rajesh eventually succumbed to injuries. A special police team had been formed to trace the suspects who are college drop-outs.

Pedestrian knocked down by bus

A pedestrian was mowed by a BMTC bus near K.G. Halli level-crossing on Thursday.

The deceased, Arul, was a labourer.

The Pulakeshinagar traffic police have seized the bus and arrested the driver Shivasharanappa, who has been booked for causing death due to negligence.
