Firing on APMC president: Police questioning 2 prisoners

They are suspected of supplying weapons for the attack

Dasanapura APMC president Srinivas Murthy was attacked by bike-borne assailants at Kogilu Cross near Yelahanka on February 3.

Police have taken two undertrials from Vijayapura prison into custody in connection with the firing on Kadabagere Srinivas, the president of Dasanapura Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee, at Kogilu Cross near Yelahanka.

Yelahanka police suspect Ahaz Ahamed Patel and Abbas Ali of supplying country-made weapons to the shooters.

They were arrested under the Arms Act and police are ascertaining how they continue to commit crimes despite being behind bars.

Police suspect them of getting access to mobile phones. “This happens with the help of some corrupt officials in the prison department,” said the officer.

“We are also checking on whose request the weapons were supplied to the shooters,” said a senior police officer.

The attack on Mr. Srinivas took place when his car stopped at a signal. Two bike-borne me shot at him and his driver Murthy. A total of six rounds were fired at them.

Both sustained injuries, but survived.
