Fight stigma attached to vitiligo

The State chapter of the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists has decided to launch a State-wide awareness campaign about the skin ailment vitiligo, a condition where white patches appear on the skin of the patient.

Urging people to clear their misconceptions about the condition, the association, in a press release here Wednesday, said that it is non-contagious and curable. As part of the awareness campaign, it will distribute pamphlets and put up banners and posters in public places in addition to holding awareness camps.

The campaign will be inaugurated on May 19.
