An exhibition featuring over 50 works of art on the theme of environment and conservation was inaugurated at the National Gallery of Modern Art here on Tuesday. Called the International Environmental Art Exhibition, part of the Roundglass Samsara Festival, it will run till October 10.

Presented in a mixed media form, the artwork seeks to highlight the natural world, human civilisation, and coexisting patterns. The message of the exhibition is the need for a drastic change to make the future sustainable. Eminent photographers, artists, and award winning filmmakers are participating in the exhibit and the list includes Dhritiman Mukherjee, nature photographer, Dhimant Vyas, animation film designer, and Meital Rusdia, the chief of the UNICEF field office for Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.

“We often forget, as city dwellers or otherwise, the original inhabitants of this planet. We forget what we are doing to them. Through my art, I want to show our coinhabitants, the beauty, and splendour of this earth,” said Mr. Vyas.
