‘Doctor’ dupes salesman of gold shop

Takes away chain worth ₹74,000

A man pretending to be a doctor from a well-known hospital hoodwinked a salesman at a jewellery store in Jayanagar and left with a gold necklace worth ₹74,000.

The salesman Manoj Kumar, claimed that man visited the shop last week. After examining jewellery, he chose a gold chain weighing 20.17 grams.

He introduced himself as a doctor, and then informed him that his ATM card had a cash usage limit. He requested Manoj to come to the hospital where he worked to collect the money. After taking permission from the store manager, Manoj accompanied the man to the hospital. After entering the reception area, the accused took the chain and asked Manoj to wait in the lobby while he got the cash from his cabin.

Manoj waited for an hour before checking at the information counter about the ‘doctor’. CCTV footage showed that the accused had left the hospital through the basement exit with the gold chain.
