Delhi gets metro station named after Sir M. Visvesvaraya

A Delhi Metro station which bears the name of Sir M. Visvesvaraya was inaugurated on Monday. Sir M. Visvesvaraya was an engineer, scholar and statesman who served as Diwan of Mysore kingdom from 1912 to 1919.

The station is part of the Lajpat Nagar-Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus corridor of the Pink Line, which was flagged off by Union Minister Hardeep Puri and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and MP from the State Ananthkumar was present at the launch. He said, “Sir Visvesvaraya was a proud son of Karnataka and one of the pillars of Indian engineering who played a pivotal role in establishing over 70 irrigation projects all across the world.”
