A private security guard foiled a dacoity attempt by a gang of 15 members near a construction site at Narayana Guru Layout in Hebbagodi.
The guard, Uthappa, opened fire at least three times as he shot in the air and scared the gang away late Tuesday night. The gang had allegedly tried to steal some iron from the site.
Two such attempts had been previously reported in the same layout, police said.
