The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) will file a criminal case for violating various regulations against the international school at Jalahalli here, where a three-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted on Tuesday. This was stated by Commissioner for Public Instruction Mohammad Mohsin on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Jalahalli police detained three persons, including school attendant Gundanna, who is the prime suspect.

The school has classes from pre-primary to standard seven. However, officials said, it did not have permission to run pre-primary classes (in which the child was enrolled), or classes six and seven.

Mr. Mohsin said the school was neither affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education nor had the mandatory ‘No objection’ certificate from the State. It had permission to run Kannada-medium classes from Class 1 to 5. The school had violated most of the 23 conditions prescribed by the government, he added. “We have sought a response from the management and are ready to initiate stringent action against them, including closure,” he said, and added that a report had been sent to the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development.
