Burglars make merry in city
Gold worth over Rs. 4 lakh was stolen from a house in Pillanna Garden, off Tannery Road in K.G. Halli. When Naveed Ahmed Khan returned to his house on Friday evening after attending a family function in Ramanagaram, he found the lock broken and 300 gm of gold ornaments stolen, said the K.G. Halli police.
In another theft, thieves broke into a house in Kaval Byrasandra and stole around 2 kg silver plates, lamps and other puja items late Friday.

D.J. Halli police said house owner Prashant had gone to Dharmastala on a pilgrimage, while his help, Kannaiah Sharma, slept in the electronic appliances store which Prashant ran on the ground floor.
The exact value of the valuables could not be ascertained immediately.
Chain snatched
A gold chain worth around Rs. 1.3 lakh was snatched by two men from a woman in front of her house in Girinagar II phase on Friday night. Girinagar police said Kumudini (52) had stepped out of her house to buy vegetables around 9.30 p.m. when two men on a motorbike snatched her 64-gm mangalsutra.
Mugging
A cellphone worth around Rs. 10,000 was robbed from a man by two knife-wielding men late on Friday in R.T Nagar. Police said Amit Kumar Saurabh (24) was talking on his mobile in front of his house in R.T. Nagar II Block around 11 p.m. when he was accosted.
Children rescued
City police rescued 13 child workers, aged between three and 17 years, from a workshop on Broadway Street in Shivaji Nagar on July 18. The children, all from Bihar, were being employed to make bags and are now under police protection.
Their handlers, Jitendra Prasad Yadav and Mohammad Sarfaroz Sheik, are absconding.
Reported missing
The city police said 16 people were reported missing in July. The list includes six children, the youngest of which is four-year-old Mubarak, last seen in Government School, Azad Nagar, Chamarajpet on July 18.
