The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday stayed further proceedings initiated by the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) against Ashok Kheny, Managing Director of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE), and others on a complaint that the company has been putting up certain constructions without permission.
Justice Anand Byrareddy passed the interim order on the petition filed by Mr. Kheny and others challenging the First Information Report (FIR) registered by the BMTF against them on April 18. The FIR was registered based on a complaint lodged by M.K. Kempegowda. NICE is the company implementing the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Project.
The petitioners have claimed that the BMTF had no jurisdiction to entertain the complaint as there were no violations alleged that come under the purview of BMTF. The petitioners have also alleged that the complaint was filed to overcome the verdicts of the Supreme Court, which had upheld the BMIC project, and to stall the project being executed by the company by abusing the process of law.
