A 21-year-old cook, employed in a paying guest accommodation for women in BTM Layout, was bludgeoned to death allegedly by the building’s security guard early on Tuesday.
The body of Pappu Kumar, a native of Bihar, was found by the landlord, Bhaskar Reddy, on Tuesday morning.
The Madiwala police said that the accused, Mahesh, and the victim slept in a room on the ground floor of the building. The two had frequent squabbles and the police suspect they fought over a petty issue on Monday night as well, leading to the murder.

The police suspect both men were in an inebriated state when the crime took place.
According to the police, Pappu sustained injuries on his head and nose after he was struck by a club and died of his injuries soon after.
Meanwhile, Mahesh, also from Bihar, escaped with his belongings.

Officials said that Pappu had referred Mahesh for work in the PG accommodation, following which the accused had started working from June 8.
The Madiwala police have registered a case of murder and are on the lookout for the accused.
Hacked to death
A 38-year-old man was allegedly hacked to death by a five-member gang in Chandra Layout early on Tuesday.
He was identified as Sathish Kumar, brother of a deceased history-sheeter, Bhakta.
The police claimed he had been allegedly extorting money from people using his brother’s name.
On Monday night, Sathish went out for a drink with a few persons, following which he was taken to Vinayakanagar, where he was allegedly stabbed by the gang.
Sources said three men had been picked up for questioning by the police.
A case of murder has been registered.
