A gang of conmen, masquerading as police officials, struck again in the city on Friday, robbing people at three separate spots and escaping with jewellery worth over Rs. 6 lakh.
This comes close on the heels of a 60-year-old woman being robbed of her jewellery, valued at Rs. 3 lakh, in a similar modus operandi, two days ago in Kengeri police station limits.
On Friday, Jagadamba, a teacher, lost Rs. 3-lakh worth of jewellery when two men posing as police officers duped her in Rajarajeshwarinagar. The victim was on her way to work when two men confronted her near Ideal Home apartments and introduced themselves as police officers from the crime branch.

The duo showed her ID cards and asked her to remove her valuables.
They helped her remove her gold chain and a pair of bangles and pretended to place them in her purse. Later, Jagadamba checked her purse to find the valuables missing. She immediately filed a complaint with the Rajarajeshwarinagar police station.
In another case, Gayatri Srinivasa (59) was conned by two men flashing police identity cards and made away with gold valuables weighing 10 gm on the pretext of helping her.

The victim was returning home from her morning walk at Lalbagh when the incident occurred. The Kalasipalya police have taken up a case and are investigating.
A few hours later, two men — believed to be the same duo — confronted Chukki Bai (65) when she was returning from a temple in Jayanagar 1st Block, and made away with gold weighing 90 gm. In a similar fashion, they flashed ID cards and warned her not to display her jewellery. They helped her remove the valuables and pretended to wrap it in a newspaper and handed it over to her. Chukki Bai, in her complaint with the Tilaknagar police, said the duo was also advising an unidentified man to remove his valuables. The police suspect that this man could also be part of the gang.
