Complaint against private school for forcing RTE students to wear headscarf

June 25, 2017 02:27 pm | Updated 02:27 pm IST - Bengaluru

Parents of children who got admission under the Right To Education (RTE) quota in a private school in the city have complained that their children were allegedly forced to wear a headscarf.

The parents filed a complaint with the RET Task Force, which in turn has filed a complaint with the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

A parent whose daughter studies in the school said that they also objected to their children learning Arabic. “The school is an English medium school and cannot enforce these things upon us,” the parent said.

Nagasimha G. Rao, convenor of the RTE Task Force, said that the complaint has been forwarded to the commission and many parents who had obtained a seat under the quota have stopped sending their wards to the school.
