Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) has demanded that the government provide relief to the farmers who suffered crop loss due to recent hail storm in the district. In a memorandum submitted to the Additional Deputy Commissioner K. Vidyakumari, the KRRS State vice-president K. Narayana Gowda said crops on about 600 to 650 hectare were damaged in the hail storm and gusty winds. Tomato, capsicum and mango cultivators have suffered huge loss, he said. The government should provide ₹1 lakh per acre as compensation, he said. It also urged the authorities to supply quality seeds to the farmers for sowing during the monsoon season.
