Admission season is a testing time for students. But for some, the stress continues even after completing admissions into prestigious colleges.
Seven architecture aspirants, of which six got seats through Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) and one took a seat in Manipal University, approached the Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental College of Karnataka (COMEDK) to participate in the second round of counselling for engineering courses. The students were trying their luck at getting a seat in a better college. However, the request was turned down by COMEDK on Thursday, even as the students tried to build pressure on the authorities.
COMEDK said that allowing them to take part in the counselling would come in the way of meritorious students. It said the entrance test and seat selection process is maintained to ensure high standard of education in professional institutions, and not to provide candidates opportunities to procure seats in multiple institutions.

“If the applicants had not taken seats through KEA or had not joined the concerned colleges, but had surrendered the said seats to KEA itself, they could have been permitted to attend the second round of counselling,” said a COMEDK note.
