Civil works on Reach 2 of Namma Metro, between Leprosy Hospital and Mysore Road Terminal, has picked up. The launching of segments on girders is going on at a fast pace between Mysore Road-Outer Ring Road Junction and Nayandahalli.
This junction has been a nightmare for motorists for over a year after the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) commenced construction of a multi-level flyover even as the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) had taken up construction of the viaduct work.

One launcher each was at work on Magadi Road, Chord Road and Mysore Road. “Segment launching on Magadi Road is likely to be completed shortly and the launcher would be brought to Mysore Road for segment launching towards Kimco Junction,” he said.
Mr. Ramtekaar said civil work was going on in full swing on the entire Reach 2. “We are making every effort to complete the work as fast as possible,” he said and hoped that barricades on roads beneath could be removed as and when the segments are launched. Segment launching is almost complete on Chord Road, except on a few patches near Deepanjalinagar and Magadi Road Toll Gate. He said civil works are expected to be complete on this reach by December next.

Meanwhile, work on a two-level flyover, taken up by the BDA at the Mysore Road-ORR Junction, is also in full swing. The BDA had promised to open one arm of the flyover on ORR, from Magadi towards Banashankari, for vehicular traffic from December-end.
Pillars up
As a result, pillars have already come up for this arm even as pillars for other arms are getting ready. A service road has been opened from the junction towards Banashankari to ease traffic congestion.
