As many as 50 children from schools across Bengaluru on Tuesday put a smile on the face of many traffic police personnel by handing over a ‘Thank you’ card to express their gratitude for their efforts in managing the city’s traffic.
Students from various schools undertook this gesture on the occasion of the 10 annual Traffic Police Day.
Appreciating their gesture, Shekhar K., a constable from Jalahalli station, said, “We want you children to follow rules and also teach your elders to do the same.”

The Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness (CMCA), which organised the event, had initiated the campaign with the aim of sensitising children and adults to traffic and road safety, and to acknowledge the contribution of the traffic police.
In the coming months, children from the 89 schools associated with CMCA will walk to nearby police stations and thank the police personnel. As part of the CMCA programme, children are taught to follow traffic rules and participate in campaigns at various traffic junctions.
Commissioner of Police M.N. Reddi, Additional Commissioner of Police B. Dayananda and World Billiards and Snooker champion Pankaj Advani were present to support the initiative.
