As the deadline for the Common Entrance Test (CET) rank holders to exercise their option neared, as many as 6,275 students were yet to exercise any option, Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) officials said here on Saturday.

Students have till 5 p.m. on Monday to pay the fees and report to the colleges if they are happy with the seat allotted to them in the first round of counselling.

With the newly introduced e-payment option for paying fees being streamlined a bit by Saturday and fewer parents and students visiting the KEA help centre here, KEA officials said they would take a call on Sunday on whether to extend the deadline for payment of fees and reporting to colleges.

As on Saturday, 61,845 were allotted seats.

KEA officials have reiterated that if students do not make the payment, the seat allotted in the first round will be cancelled but they would be allowed to participate in the second round.

Officials also said that there were nearly 2,100 cases of ‘broken transactions’, which could mean a mismatch in the amount entered or a breakdown in the server. “All this will be sorted out by Sunday.”
