CCB raids bar, rescues over 50 women

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials raided a bar and restaurant on Residency Road and rescued over 50 women, who allegedly had been hired on the pretext of serving food but were being forced into dancing for customers instead.

Based on a tip-off, the officials conducted the raid and sealed the bar on Saturday night.

The officials said that the bar owner, Ganga Shetty, managed to escape during the raid.

They said that he had been forcing the women to serve liquor to customers, who showered money on them. The police seized over Rs. 50,000 in cash that was lying on the floor in the bar.

The police arrested some of the staff members and customers. A case against the bar owner has been filed with the Ashoknagar police.

CCB officials raided a lodge in New Tharagupet and rescued four girls who had been forced into prostitution there. The police arrested six persons who were allegedly running the racket.
