CCB arrests man selling kerosene meant for public distribution

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths raided a shop in Kalasipalya on Wednesday and seized 200 litres of illegally stored kerosene worth Rs one lakh, which was meant for public distribution.

On a tip-off, a team of CCB officials raided Taj Stores in Kalasipalya and arrested the owner Kaleem (43). The officials seized nine barrels of kerosene and booked Kaleem under Essential Commodities Act.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Abhishek Goel, who supervised the raid, said that Kaleem confessed to purchasing the kerosene from Balraj for Rs. 50 per liter and sell them in open market for Rs. 65 per litre.

The kerosene was meant for distribution to the people below poverty line under Public Distribution System (PDS).

The police are on the manhunt for Balraj to ascertain others possible involvement in the racket.
