‘The government has suspended IPS officer in this case’

Union Law Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda on Sunday demanded that the Karnataka government handover the probe into the lottery scam to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, he suspected that illegal lottery operations would not have thrived in the State without the patronage of politicians. “There is a talk of some Ministers and top officials being involved in the scam. It is not possible for the Criminal Investigation Department that is presently probing into the issue to expose such a link,” he said. Mr. Gowda said the BJP had taken a stand that illegal lottery operations was a serious crime and hence all those involved in it should be identified, besides being punished.
