Cabbie dies in accident, two others injured

A 23-year-old cab driver attached to a call centre was killed and two others injured when he rammed his car into a roadside electric pole on Old Airport Road in the early hours of Wednesday.

The deceased, Somanayaka, was a native of K.R. Pete in Mandya and lived in Peenya here. The injured have been identified as Aditya Sharma and Zubiullah Shariff, both employees of the call centre situated in Kundalahalli.

The accident occurred around 4.30 a.m when Somanayaka was dropping the duo to their homes.

According to the police, the driver was speeding and the car was completely damaged. Passers-by rushed the trio to the nearby Manipal Hospitals, where Somanayaka was declared brought dead. Zabiulla and Aditya are said to be out of danger. The Old Airport Road police have registered a case.
