The passengers of a private bus who were charred to death in the horrific accident on Wednesday were probably among the scores of travellers who prefer bus to train or other modes of transport.
Even though many expressed shock about the accident, regular travellers in the city maintained that the incident would not deter them from seeing convenience while choosing a mode of transport.
Take the example of 28-year-old digital marketing professional Arun Kurien, who travels back home to Kottayam in Kerala from Bangalore at least once a month. “Buses are faster and easier to book. After planning travel much in advance and booking train tickets, I will reach almost around noon if I take the 10 p.m. train. By bus, I leave at around 8.30 p.m. and reach early morning. ”

Sagar. M., a 29-year-old assistant manager with a cement company in Bangalore, visits Hyderabad regularly for two reasons: office meetings and because his sister’s family lives there. “We prefer to travel by bus, that too private buses, as they have pick up and drop facilities to the nearest spots of our destinations. This is not offered by State-run buses and is not an option with the railways. Though they are slightly expensive, it gets adjusted with the additional transport provided, ” he said, though admitting that Wednesday’s accident has shaken him .
