Break-in at house of educational institute director

Bengaluru: Some unknown persons allegedly broke into the house of the director of an educational institution in the city and made away with ₹ 24 lakh in cash and 20 grams of gold on Sunday night.

According to Sanjay Nagar police, the theft took place at the house of Arun Gowda, who runs R.K. Group of Institutions. Mr. Gowda returned home after a family outing at midnight on Sunday to find the main door broken.

He immediately filed a police complaint. The police said sniffer dog and forensic experts were pressed into service. “We are searching for CCTV footage. The person seems to have broken the door using a crowbar,” said a police officer.

Nursing student commits suicide

A 19-year-old nursing student committed suicide by hanging herself in her house in Tippagondanahalli, Nelamangala. Police suspect that she took the extreme step due to a personal issue.

Rajiya, who hails from West Bengal, was a first year student in a private nursing college. According to the police, she and one of her friends had a quarrel on Sunday. The same night she hung herself. The body was found on Monday morning by neighbours.

Police said that no suicide note was found. “We are investigating into the cause of death,” said a police officer.
