January 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:31 am IST - Bengaluru:

Passengers of a BMTC bus had a narrow escape on Monday when the vehicle caught fire due to a suspected electrical fault in the engine at Boodigere Cross on Old Madras Road.

According to the police, the bus (route number 328-D) belongs to depot number 29. It was plying from Hoskote to Sarjapur via Varthur and Bommasandra. At Boodigere Cross, the driver noticed something amiss and parked the bus to check. He soon told passengers and the conductor to disembark after noticing fire in the engine.

“Not many passengers were on board as it was early in the morning and a government holiday,” the police said.
