BMTC bus driver beaten up at gunpoint

In a case of road rage, three men beat up a BMTC driver after threatened him at gunpoint in full public view on the busy New Thippasandra Road on Friday.

The driver, Akmal Pasha, filed a complaint with the JB Nagar police. He was driving a bus from Shivajinagar to Kaggadasapura with over 40 passengers.

At New Thippasandra market, a SUV intercepted the bus. Three persons got into the bus and assaulted the driver. When Akmal Pasha resisted, one of them pulled out a gun.

When passengers raised an alarm, the trio fled. Bus conductor Sanaulla called up the J.B. Nagar police. “I do not know who the attackers were, but one among them referred to the other as Reddy,” Sanaulla said.

Police recovered CCTV footage from a nearby shop.

Traffic movement on the busy road was disrupted for sometime.
