BMCRI doctors busy with VIP duties for the next few days

Published - October 06, 2015 09:41 am IST - Bengaluru:

A team of 18 doctors from Bengaluru Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) will be busy with VIP duties in the next few days.

Separate batches of doctors, support staff and a VIP ambulance are being deployed for the visits of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Prime Minister Narendra Modi followed by Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and Chief Justice of India H.L. Dattu in the coming days.

Each batch comprises three doctors (general physician, orthopaedic specialist and an anaesthetist), a nurse and an attender. Three such batches are on call on each day of the VIP’s stay in the city to ensure round-the-clock medical care.

But on Monday, authorities at Bowring Hospital had a tough time arranging for two VIP ambulances – one for the German Chancellor and the other for the Prime Minister. With just one VIP ambulance, the hospital borrowed a 108 Arogya Kavacha ambulance for the Prime Minister.
