Karnataka : Bengaluru :08/09/2015: BBMP councillors from Congress are at one of the resort in Coorg district

The Bharatiya Janata Party is also thinking of taking its councillors-elect to a resort on the outskirts of Bengaluru for a day to keep its flock together. Congress and Janata Dal (S) have already sent their councillors-elect to different resorts.

According to sources in the BJP, the party is considering sending its councillors-elect to a resort on September 10, a day before the mayoral election as part of the party’s efforts to keep its flock together. At the resort, the councillors-elect will participate in a study camp, and they will be given instructions to be followed during the mayoral election. In fact, the BJP is waiting for the Karnataka High Court’s verdict on the petitions questioning the voting rights of MPs and legislators during the mayoral polls before taking a final decision on whether to move the councillors-elect to a resort.

Meanwhile, the party’s Bengaluru city leaders and the councillors-elect will launch a two-day dharna in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue on Race Course Road on Wednesday to register their protest against what they call “hijacking of the people’s mandate by the Congress” and the alleged failure of the government to tackle the power crisis.
