‘Bihu’ celebrated

The Assam Association of Karnataka celebrated “Rongali Bihu” to mark the last day of “Chot” month and the onset of the Assamese New Year. Many Assamese in Bangalore gathered to ring in the New Year at Christ The King Public School Ground in Malleswaram on Sunday.

The cultural programme that started at 3 p.m. went on till late Sunday night and showcased the richness of Assamese culture, music and dance.

Special performances were given by singers Uddipan Sarmah and Gautham Kowar from Assam.

The chief guests were Janardhan Palyam, founder, Rashtriya Vidhyaarthi Poshakara Vedike (RVPV), and Malleswaram MLA R.N. Ashwath Narayan.
