BBMP uses street plays to promote waste segregation

Following the success of street plays performed in the run up to the Assembly elections to create voter awareness, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike is trying to promote the idea of waste segregation through such plays.

The civic body intends to create awareness among the public though street plays and other cultural programmes.

About 10 troupes have been formed, each of them comprising of 11 members, who will perform in parks in the mornings and later at malls, commercial complexes, markets among other public places.

On Tuesday, the troupes performed in Kamat Hotel in Gandhinagar and at Kamakshipalya, Basaveshwarnagar, K.R. Puram, R.R. Nagar and Mahadevpura. Apart from this, advertisements and awareness campaign boards on garbage segregation would be displayed on BMTC buses and three vehicles of Information department will also be used to make announcements regarding the campaign.
