Following a fire incident which claimed the lives of five people at Kailash Bar in Kalasipalya earlier this week, the BBMP, on Thursday, revoked the trade licence of the establishment for flouting fire safety norms.

An order issued by the Deputy Health Officer, Chickpet, notes that the bar did not have fire extinguishers or an emergency exit.

Meanwhile, the Urban DC has also suspended the bar’s liquor licence pending an inquiry, based on a recommendation by the Excise Department. “As of now, we cannot revoke the licence from our end. Once the inquiry is complete, we will take a decision,” an excise official said.
