BANGALORE - 03.10.2013 : If the signboards in Bangalore University's Jnanabharathi campus, off Mysore road, are to be believed, the Governor and Chancellor of Universities H.R. Bhardwaj's residence would be the same as Vice-Chancellor B. Thimme Gowda's, in Bangalore on October 03, 2013. Photo: K. Murali Kumar.

A new visitor in Bangalore University’s (BU) Jnanabharathi campus could be made to believe it to be the Raj Bhavan — the residence-cum-office of the Governor of Karnataka.

Confusing bilingual signboards on the varsity’s vast main campus is turning out to be the laughing stock as it erroneously refers to the Vice-Chancellor’s residence as that of the Governor’s. There are at least three boards on the campus which identify Vice-Chancellor B. Thimme Gowda’s residence as that of the ‘Kulapati’s’ (Governor H.R. Bhardwaj) in Kannada. It should have been ‘Upa-kulapati.’ Mr. Bhardwaj is also the Chancellor of all universities in the State. The signboard in English is, however, correct.
