Don’t be surprised to see films being shot at the Rangoli Metro Art Center and Bangalore Haat, as Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) has introduced a policy on the use of these two public spaces in Namma Metro stations.
Film producers, documentary filmmakers and amateur film clubs can shoot films at the two spots, one in M.G. Road and the other at Swami Vivekananda Road.
BMRCL will collect a fee that includes a refundable security deposit and additional charges, besides offering a rebate for those who use it as a backdrop for Kannada movies. The price for hiring the M.G. Road locale is double of that charged for the Bangalore Haat.

However, those hiring these two spaces will have to follow the dos and don’ts that have been laid down by BMRCL.
According to sources, the film script must be shown to BMRCL authorities. That apart, no animals will be allowed in the shooting space. The most important condition is to ensure that Namma Metro is not shown in poor light.
While hailing the idea, a few film producers stated that it will work only if the hiring charges are feasible.

B. Suresh, film producer and director, said his colleagues in the Kannada film industry have used the Metro for film shoots and their experience had been cordial. “Namma Metro is important to films, as movies today are mostly urban stories with new age characters, and stories unfold wherever people meet.” He opined that the hiring charges should be fixed in consultation with producers and directors as people would use the Metro if it is popularised in films.
