Auto driver booked for misbehaving with passenger

The Indiranagar police have booked a case against an autorickshaw driver for misbehaving with a woman passenger, after she refused to pay excess fare.

Based on a complaint filed by the victim and a picture of the vehicle’s registration number, the police have booked the driver under assault or criminal force to a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty, under Section 354 IPC. They are on the lookout for the driver.

In her complaint , the victim, a software engineer from Konena Agrahara, said that she boarded the autorickshaw on April 29 to go to her friend’s house in Domlur. After reaching the destination, the driver demanded an extra Rs. 50 but the victim paid only the meter fare.

The driver allegedly abused and manhandled her, and the victim slapped him in retaliation. The driver soon fled the scene before passers-by came to her help.

The victim managed to click a picture of the registration number of the vehicle and filed a complaint with the police. The Indiranagar police managed to track down the address of the driver with the help of the Regional Transport office and said he would be nabbed soon.
