ASI hit by car while on duty

A police official attached to the Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police station was seriously injured when a speeding car him him at the Konankunte junction signal on Wednesday.

The injured, Guruswamy, an Assistant Sub-Inspector, was managing the traffic near the junction, when he noticed the speeding vehicle that allegedly jumped the signal. When he tried to stop the vehicle, it hit him and sped away. The passersby and other police officials rushed Mr. Guruswamy to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for a rib fracture and injuries on the head. The police are on the look out for the driver.

In another incident, a flower decorator was killed after being knocked down by a car near Venkatala in Yelahanka traffic police limits on Thursday. The victim has been indentified as Jagannath (33), a resident of Chikkajala. Travelling by car at around 11.30 a.m., the victim stopped the vehicle to check if there was a flat tyre, when he was knocked him down by another car. The victim died in a hospital during treatment.
