Armyman held on charge of raping 14-month-old

‘The case has been handed over to police for impartial inquiry’

A 33-year-old armed forces personnel has been arrested by the J.C. Nagar police for allegedly raping the 14-month-old daughter of his colleague on Saturday evening. The suspect holds the rank of Naik and has been serving in the Army for the last 13 years. According to police, the neighbour and a colleague of the accused, who wanted to go out, left the baby with the accused.

Upon their return, the toddler’s parents noticed that baby was crying incessantly and did not stop despite repeated attempts to pacify her.

When the baby’s mother picked her up to soothe her, she noticed the child bleeding profusely and informed her husband. The duo rushed the toddler to a nearby hospital where the doctors confirmed that she had been raped.

The J.C. Nagar police rushed to the spot and arrested the accused. The victim and the suspect have been sent for medical test and waiting report to initiate further action.

‘Zero tolerance’ A release from the office of the Defence wing here stated: “An incident of an Army personnel indulging in a sexual harassment case of another soldier’s daughter has come to notice. An FIR has been filed against the suspect and the case has been handed over to police for impartial inquiry. The Army has zero tolerance for disciplinary cases.”
