Hundreds of supporters of actor Arjun Sarja gathered at the Cubbon Park police station on Monday as he appeared for questioning by the police over allegations of sexual harassment by co-actor Sruthi Hariharan.

Mr. Sarja, accompanied by his nephews and a friend, made his way through the crowd of supporters around 11 a.m. According to the police, the actor cooperated with the investigation and denied allegations that he had harassed Ms. Hariharan on four occasions during the filming of Vismaya between November 2015 and July 2016.

Ms. Hariharan had posted about the incident online as part of the #MeToo movement, and on October 27 filed a police complaint.

Verification

Mr. Sarja’s counsel has submitted a logbook of the film’s shooting and a few video footage to the police for verification. He has also reportedly told the police that the complainant had not informed the director or film crew about the issue, and questioned the veracity of Ms. Hariharan’s claims.

The police have recorded the statement of five persons and even visited spots where the alleged harassment took place.
